ALPINESTARS SP X AIR CARBON V2 GLOVES

Posted by Danny on 28th Jul 2024

I have armored full gauntlet gloves for racing and light gloves for summer heat comfort but I wanted a compromise. A well ventilated armored glove for commuting in 100+ degree weather and my funeral escort side gig. I got the white and black to match my traffic control uniform. These are more toward the armor side with pretty good ventilation but my hands still get a bit damp inside and when put them on for the ride home after my regular 8 hour job, they still feel a bit damp. 5 stars for materials and construction though. I think there may be some neoprene padding which explains why they get damp and don't dry out very fast. Again, I'm talking about 90-100 plus degree days. At 80 degrees I have zero complaints about sweating. Full disclosure, my current commuter has barkbusters that block some of the wind. The hook and loop closure strap can be fiddly to grab and loosen. I wish it had a tab of some kind to grab onto. That said, these are now my favorite gloves for commuting, work and when I get on adventure dirt roads again, I'll wear them there too. Maybe I'll sew a grab tab onto the closure strap. I have yet to try them out for shooting with my duty gun.

    Great for street riding!

Posted by Whitney Okabayashi on 19th Jul 2024

These have been an awesome warm weather street glove. They're not like a track glove in the sense that they feel as if excess material is bunching up at the base of the fingers. Nope not at all, instead they're a comfortable all day glove that look good to boot. With respect to fit, I found that the Astars sizing chart was spot-on.

I like these gloves, but you can feel the seams in the fingers.

If you couldn't feel the seams I would have gave them five stars.

    Make sure to verify seams

Posted by Unknown on 13th Apr 2021

Very nice gloves, breathable, sit great, can even use cell phone in em. My pinky seam broke apart within 30 min of riding on a range. I noticed that the other glove’s pinky is also at risk. Make sure to verify very carefully before riding, A* customer support is surprisingly stubborn and unsupportive, involving a ton of communication and proposing inconvenient solutions. STG are great - check your gear properly to deal with STG in case of an issue, 10 min in-home test wasn’t enough in my case to notice the issue.
