Almost every component of the Supertech R Vented Boot, Alpinestars definitive racing boot as worn by a roster of champions past and present, has undergone a rigorous program of upgrades to sharpen its performance features even further. Featuring extensive perforations throughout for maximum airflow, innovations derived using feedback from Alpinestars involvement in top flight racing include a newly redesigned front flex area, a redesigned rear bellow, a redesigned top gaitor, a new shifter and shin plate, a new shin slider and a new inner bootie, all of which enhance the comfort, protection and the performance of this boot to a new class-leading high.

  • Main upper material constructed using microfiber with a dedicated laser perforation zone for optimum breathability and abrasion resistance, while also delivering high levels of flexibility.
  • New front flex area for improved impact abrasion while also ensuring the natural front and back.
  • New front flex area increases ventilation and airflow for additional breathability.
  • Redesigned rear bellow in stretch microfiber for improved natural front and back movement.
  • Redesigned top gaiter in microfiber material with TPU over injection for enhanced prehensility.
  • New synthetic microfiber panel on medial side for enhanced abrasion resistance and improved feeling when in contact with the bike.
  • New TPU shifter for increased protection on lower medial side.
  • New TPU shin plate has been redesigned for greater impact absorption performance, thus improving abrasion resistance in a key area.
  • New replaceable shin slider for additional abrasion resistance.
  • New TPU stretch panel design with zip for an easier entry and exit and a closer, more optimized fit.
  • Hook and loop closure secures the puller zip remains in position.
  • Micro adjustable ratchet closure on top of boot for an optimized fit.
  • Replaceable co-injected TPU/aluminum toe slider with an easy screw system that protects the toe area against abrasion resistance.
  • New replaceable heel plate slider design offers increased sliding performance and protection in the case of crash.
  • Sole constructed using a lightweight rubber compound for excellent grip on the pegs.
  • Separate, internally updated bio-mechanical inner bootie made by 3D mesh material for greater structure, thus improving rider comfort.
  • Inner bootie is equipped with a new external toe area with a soft TPU reinforcement for superior impact protection and additional ankle padding for greater protection and stability during natural movement of the foot.

Great but might not be the best boot.

Lacks adjustability, not very strong in a few areas, high price tag. Very strong overall, shape prevents your feet or legs getting snagged onto parts in your motorcycle. Feels quick to break-in. Did I mentioned the side zipper can be difficult to close ? Some feet will fall right at home on these boots, like mine, but others might want to try other brands.

    Alpinestars Supertech R V2 Vented

I'm comparing these to my 19-yr old Supertechs (44 EU). Sizing: I've always worn a size 11 Nike Air Pegasus running shoe and my nice dress shoes (Italian) are an 11 and a 10.5. I ordered a 44 EU and it fit perfectly w/re to length and width (I have a normal to slightly narrow foot). I found the inner cushioning to be very form fitting and comfy - my 2005 version always had a little "slop" inside; not so with this version, very little if any heel slip is noticed. My ankles are boney and somewhat prominent - nothing immediately concerns me about the fit around the ankle - there is a lot of noticeable padding; although in certain positions I sometimes feel something that may or may not develop into a hot spot during track wear (first track day with these is 2 days out), but I think with the position on the bike this will not be an issue. Donning and Zipper: I've decided to wear the leathers over the inner booties. I remove the inner bootie from the outer boot and insert my foot, snug the lacing and then zip my leather's pantleg over the inner bootie; I cannot quite get the leather zipper to close completely around the outer bootie - maybe 98-99% zipped. The inner bootie slips into the outer shell very easily (much more readily than my old pair). Pulling the boot's zipper closed the first time was extremely difficult; I kept the boot on for about 20-30 min. and then unzipped and rezipped. The 2nd time zipping the boot was significantly easier - it seems to me that the rubber-like accordion that the zipper is attached to needs to be given time to "relax" a bit. The next day I practiced again putting the boots on with my leathers, paying more attention to where any zipper was having difficulties. The left boot went on OK; the right boot I noticed that the zipper was getting hung up at trying to get over the position of the upper rivet of the inner bootie - by simply pulling a bit outward enabled the zipper to easily get by. Additional comments: I did raise the height of my shifter peg as it seems that the toe box might be a bit higher (and maybe the additional rigidity of the boot didn't allow me to flex the foot like I was accustomed to in my now 19-yr old boots that are being replaced). This is a very slim profile boot - I consider my calves to be normally sized (although I've run for 30+ years, so maybe they are on the larger size of normal). I hope this review helps someone.

I wear size 12 US for most brands. I went with a size 45, and it's a nice snug but not uncomfortable fit appropriate for racing.

I wear 13 US, and the 47 fits nicely in Alpine Stars. The have a pliable, broken-in feel from new.. The ventilation is very noticeable.

    boot size

Posted by Steve on 7th Jun 2023

I guess I am the exception to the rule. I wear a US 10.5 (regular) in almost every shoe and have purchased four pairs of A* boots in size 45 going back to 2007. They all fit great, not loose at all. I haven't purchased new boots in a few years and so took Van's advice and went with a size 44. They are too tight. I can't imagine them breakinq in enough to be comfortable. Will have to return them and upsize to a 45.

    Comfort and protection

Fits a little over 1 size up. I wear a 44 in smx+ v1 but 45 in the new supertech is spot on. Damn good boot, worth the investment. If street and track day activities are on your list then you will not be disappointed. These boots are amazing. And the men and women at STG make figuring out your size a breeze. 12/10 they’re amazing.

I am an 11.5 and the 46 fit true to size, as comfortable but more protection than my SMX plus

    Quality Review

Posted by Tier One on 14th Sep 2022

I ordered a European size 48, as I am a U.S. size 14 in most boots. The main issue was the left inner boots was too long for the left outer boot, and it caused the inner boot sole to wrinkle just behind the ball of the foot. The boots overall were too long for my foot and not very wide. Since they had no 47 in stock, I sent them back and ordered a 46. The inner boot on the right foot was perfect and quite comfortable, although a bit long. Hopefully the 46 will work on both feet. The "Hassle Free" return policy was NOT so hassle free. The man on the phone told me I needed to take pictures and measure and email stuff, to which I replied, no, you can take all the pictures you like when I send these 48's back to you. Eventually he agreed to send me a shipping label and they are on their way back, and I payed for a second pair, knowing that Brian will eventually credit me on the first pair.... 5 stars for comfort on the right foot, the left boot issue and lack of QA means 4 stars over all for me.... That could change depending on the quality of the next pair... Boots look fantastic and are simple to get into and out of....
