Size X-Large can be used with suit sizes 54 EU and 56 EU without any compromise. Size X-Large can also be used size 52 EU with the only possible compromise being a little additional textile vest material. The airbag itself is the same size and coverage as found in the size large. Once these vests are sold out there will not be any more Tech Air Race Vests sold. Alpinestars will continue to service these vests for several seasons to come.
The Alpinestars Tech-Air Race Airbag System is finally available in the US! The Tech-Air Race Airbag Vest integrates with select Alpinestars Race Suits and Jackets (see list below) which allows you to use this for more than just track riding. In Race Mode it can deploy twice (ALL SIZES EXCEPT 2XL which uses BOTH charges for a single deployment), offering CE Protection for 2 crashes. In Street Mode it can only deploy one time (and only if a first deployment has not occured), but an airbag deployed in street mode will still be good for a second deployment in Race Mode. The airbag covers pretty much everywhere you see vest, chest, back, shoulders etc... for maximum protection.
Note for 2022: Alpinestars has slightly updated the cosmetic design of this system. You may receive an airbag that is slightly cosmetically different from what is shown in this listing's photos. This updated cosmetic design is branded the "Tech Air Race-e R2". It is otherwise identical to the Tech Air Race.

Unintentional Inflation Event
13May2023. Int'l Race Complex with N2TD.org. https://youtu.be/5xVx8hMgy4k This was my first "Rain Tire" day. For those familiar, heading into dogleg "wheelie hump" turn 2 on a wet drizzly day. I knew better than to hit painted surfaces such as paint stripes and corner curbing, but failed miserably at the former. What you don't see. I instantly lost the rear when it touched the painted stripe(speed 83mph). Rear kicked to the right and I instantly headed over the front end as the tail kicked right. For a split millisecond, I actually thought the bike might stabilize. I was wrong. The bike came down hard on it's left side, which I think caught my left hand on or near the handlebar/combination switch(BMW term). A second later, I remember pushing on the tail piece to prevent me from going over the bike. At Track Day, they tell you NOT to stand up until you pat the ground a couple times to make certain you are stopped. When I tried to stand up the first time, I think I was still going about 30 mph. They were RIGHT! Got back to the pits and guys asked if my vest had inflated. I did not know. I went to the hospital and later that night had a "revision amputation" of my left index finger. The bone from the 3rd joint forward of my finger had been literally torn out from sliding on the ground. The day after I got home, I checked out my leathers. The vest most definitely had deployed, and I am quite certain that the Alpinestars leathers and primarily the Tech-Air Race Vest saved my bacon! Thank you Alpinestars!

Compatibility
Sadly this product is not compatible with my custom suit. It can only be used with astars suit. Astars no longer will sell the led or wire you need for this to work on another suit.

WARNING! Alpinestars charges $180 to reload
After reading all the reviews, I bought one of these and then bought an airbag compatible Alpinestars suit from STG. I figured I could wear the vest for trackdays and under my jacket for my ADV bike & street riding. I wore the vest on my adv bike and lost my footing when I stopped to decide which dirt road to follow. I fell over at 0 mph and the vest deployed. I'm glad it did because that's what it was supposed to do. However, when I returned it to the dealer (not STG) to get the vest recharged I was told it had to be sent away to Alpinestars for inspection and recharge. I waited two weeks and then was told Alpinestars was going to charge me $180 for the reload. Had I known in advance how much it cost to get the vest recharged and how long it would take, I would have absolutely bought something with the inMotion technology. Yes, there is a monthly subscription but at least I would be able to reset the charge myself and not have to pay almost $200 dollars to wait weeks to get my vest back. And while I'm waiting weeks to pay an additional $180 to use my $800 vest in my $900 airbag compatible Alpinestars suit, I'm riding without a vest on the track and the street. This is a fail. Yes, the vest offers great protection but not while its sitting in California and I'm riding in Washington.

Meh
I hope I never get the opportunity to test this product. Not a review of the product itself but I will say this item was unavailable for a ridiculously long time and after contacting Alpinestars customer service several time through several different methods, I will say their customer service is awful. Don’t read this wrong, STG is great, just disgusted with Alpinestars gear and will buy Dianese gear from now on.

Prevented Significant Injury
I purchased this system in May of 2020 and was excited to receive it a few days later. I initially was worried it would be too bulky and cause problems, however this was not the case. I quickly became used to it and soon after didn’t even notice it. Even on the hottest of days, it remained comfortable. I was able to ride 14 days in 2020 without incident. Unfortunately, in 2021 at CMP, I high sided midway through turn one and landed on my left side and back, followed by rolling, then being struck by my motorcycle. The vest deployed during this event saving me from serious injury. I was bruised and had pain but did not suffer any broken bones. As there were two total deployments available (XL), I did not immediately send it back. I was able to complete the rest of the 2021 season with complications, and the vest still worked. I have worn this vest for approximately 32 days in total. In preparation for 2022, I sent the system back to Alpinestars for a repack. Although I had once use left, I wanted to stay ahead. Repack cost $300 and I had it back within two weeks’ time. At the end of the day, I am still ahead, as the outcome of the crash could have been different without the vest. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. It is a solid investment.

Buy it, worth the money
I do not have any experience with deployments on this system however I have done plenty of research and know that this is the best and most advanced safety item money can buy. It is comfortable snd you don’t even know you’re wearing it. Once you connect the flaps, zip up the suit, jump on your bike and start riding the standby lights will turn to green and you are ready to go. This provides incredible peace of mind. Alpinestars spent 20 years developing this technology, cool stuff! Your ambulance ride will likely be more expensive than the airbag vest, it will pay for itself in one bad crash. Buy it!

Alpinestare Race Vest
Vest fits well and happy with it. The order took extremely long. Six months. If I was updated every so often it would of been fine. Then when delivered it was thrown by my gate and sat in water. All instructions were ruined and has been over a month and again no update for me. Unhappy with customer service

Tech Air Race
I was hesitant spending the money on this but so grateful I did. I crashed at over 140mph during a race in which I was knocked out and subsequently life flighted. Only ended up with a broken wrist. ER doctors were stunned and asked me what I was wearing and I said an airbag vest and they said it saved me from so many more injuries. I'll never ride again without one or hesitate in spending the money on safety.
