    Fantastic tires!

Posted by Dave Campbell on 13th Aug 2019

I’ve owned a lot of streetbikes over the years and rarely gave much thought to the tires. They are black, round, and tend to do what they say on the box at my skill level. That changed when I got my R1M in 2015 and it came with RS10’s on it. I had been fairly quick as street riders go over the years, but I was determined to use the R1M’s electronics to bring me along as a rider at a time I met a group of older, very experienced, and FAST guys. I started taking my tires to heart, researched pressures that actually work for this tire (you’ll be really disappointed with life and feedback at recommended pressures), and started to really pay attention to what they were doing... At first I noticed really aggressive wear in the center of the tire-some of this was air pressure, but also the compound. The RS10’s powder off like a pencil eraser when they are cold in fine hair-like abrasions. When you get them hot they don’t until you get them hot enough to tear and or booger up. Lowering the pressures helped both raise the average temperatures and spread the contact patch out to where the tires are no longer flat in the center when ready to be replaced. The very best thing for me is that these tires need very little warm up. Even at at a streetbike pace that makes people say “Dayumn!” as you rip around a corner, little if any warm-up is needed. I’m riding faster than I ever have in my 30 year riding career but I haven’t lost the front on these RS10’s once.... the rear only once over gravel in a corner. The only downside for these tires is Service Life. I’m getting between 1800 and 2200 miles on a rear and the front really needs to be replaced more than every other rear like most tires last. Riding style has some affect on that but I would assume the most anyone would get out of a rear is 2500 miles of “getting on it” every once in a while. If you are riding with your head switched on, it is really hard to screw up on a bike with these tires. The replacement interval is a pain in the ass and expensive over time, but it’s I get the comfort of knowing these things will stick when I need them too and I don’t have to worry about being out of work with a banged up body. Highly recommended!

    Bridgestone RS10

Came stock on my '17 GSXR1000R and purchased a second set of the 190/55. I think I'll go to the 200/55 as I'm out of tire on the rear, but still getting decent drive out of the corners. Even though I'm at the edge of the tire, I know it's not the limiting factor. These have a pretty soft feel and still communicate to you when your on the edge. The fronts will move from super plush to a coarser feeling through the bars when your at the limit and the rear has a nice smooth squish to it when finding grip. Not a large wobble back and forth, just a little squirm when driving hard. I wish I could post a couple pictures after a couple days at CSS at Barber this weekend, I'm happy with these. I have a set of Q4's to try, but I'm waiting to see which I prefer.

One of the best tires that is multi-purpose

Posted by Dan Thoms on 27th Dec 2017

Rear end gives exceptional feedback- sliding, pushing it out, rear brake control, is so smooth. It is as close to a slick grip compound as they come-rear end is predictable, feedback that lets you know it, plenty of warning These are not the R10 DOT tires so no option of compound, very ridged, or running lower psi, but the RS10 is a perfect blend of feel and still gives you the option to run on the street- it’s a great step before track only tires come into picture. Want to use warmers, use them. If you do not have them, then do not worry about, roll into it forefinger and thumb- till you can feel it- then play. Bridgestone has done their homework- reap the benefits FYI- watch your tire pressure-it’s the longevity of the tire- 1st step in the right direction- start getting used to it now.

    Loads of grip

I road the RS10s in an advanced group at Mid-Ohio and loved them. They easily lasted 2 days even after riding them on the street over the winter. The rear was done for the track, but is still great on the street. The front is still going strong and could be tracked or used on the street.

    Grippy Track Day Tire

    Posted by pR1maL on 22nd May 2016

Outstanding grip for track days and aggressive street riding, with decent wear if you get the pressures right. Imo they offer more grip than a Q3, but they offer less wear. I use the pressures I found in an image that Bridgestone posted online. I destroyed a set by using 32 psi rear, after it was suggested by a local suspension tech affiliated with my track day org. QUOTE, The new tire surpasses the BT-003 ST in all 6 areas (grip, front and rear; contact feel, front and rear; handling; overall score) and led to a 1.5 second reduction in lap times at the Autopolis circuit.* * [Test conditions] Test location: Autopolis circuit, Japan (4.674km); test vehicle: BMW S1000RR, tire size: 120/70ZR17 and 190/55ZR17; tire pressure: front 230 kPa, rear 250 kPa; rider: company test rider Source:http://global-infrastructure-for-cdn.bridgestone.com/products/motorcycle_tires/products/special/rs10/index.html END QUOTE Front 230kPa = 33.3587 Rear 250kPa = 36.2594 Dave Moss says 35 PSI Hot front - 31 to 36 hot rear I have a great deal of respect for Dave, but I prefer the pressures used by Bridgestone during their testing. In case anyone cares, Next Moto Champion did an excellent interview with Bridgestone Engineering Manager, T.J. Tennent. It contains a lot of useful information, especially for track day riders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCMcaFpCwXU

    My New Favorite Tire

Posted by Nate II on 1st Apr 2016

I did a track day on these with my Ninja H2 and I was quite impressed. The tires handled the power well and the front profile gives rapid turn-in when entering corners. I do think that the front feels a little vague in the faster corners but it sticks so you just have to trust it. Can't beat it for the money.
