The Dunlop Q4 Tires are the latest High Performance Sport Motorcycle Tire to hit the market. The Q4 Tire is designed to deliver a high level of performance on the race track during track days that can also be ridden on the street. Taylor Knapp rode on the Dunlop Q4 Tires during the 2018 MotoAmerica Tire Test at Barber carding a best lap time of 1:28.7 on the Q4's. If you have ridden at Barber you already know that turning lap times under 1:30 is not something most riders can manage, regardless of the tire they ride on. While most of us will not be turning 28's on the Q4 Tires this does establish a benchmark for their performance that will give you that confidence to go out and turn your own best laps.
Taylor Knapp said they found the best performance from the Q4's using 32 psi front and 30 psi rear (cold pressures), without using tire warmers. Designed to warm up fast Taylor told us the tires were warmed up in 1/2 to 1 1/2 laps once they were scuffed. It is important to note that this will vary a little depending on the weather conditions, level of grip at the track you are riding and of course your own personal skill level. We would suggest working down from the 1 1/2 lap warm up time to find the sweet spot.
A purpose-built track day tire that achieves lean angles of up to 62 degrees, which is more than other street legal tires offered by Dunlop.
Utilizing technology shared by Dunlop's cutting-edge MotoAmerica road race tires, the Q4 is made in Dunlop's Buffalo, New York, plant on the same proprietary equipment as the racing products - Only Dunlop makes sport tires in America.
Over the years, Dunlop has developed many class-leading sport tires as well as racing tires for professional and amateur road racers. The hypersport Sportmax Q3+ combines both, with one foot on the street and the other on the track, performing amazingly well on track days considering it's built primarily for aggressive street riding.
Now the Q4 takes that performance to a whole new level. The Q4 is not a Q3+ replacement, but is instead designed to add depth to the Sportmax family lineup to accommodate track-day-level riding like no other Dunlop DOT street tire has before, with even greater overall performance and grip than the Q3+.

Dunlops!!!
Stick like glue. Little warm-up needed. I can't get them to slide with my old '04 GSXR. Just wear pretty quickly, but if you want stick, you got to sacrifice something!

Great Service & Great Product
At the moment I am running a set of Q4's on my GSXR 600. These tires were a big upgrade from Bridgestone S22's for the track. I am currently running 2:06 to 2:12 lap times at Buttonwillow Raceway in Buttonwillow, CA on the clockwise configuration (Sweeper & not Star Mazda). The Q4's are at three track days (C Group, 2 B Groups) . The rear right is pretty much done for after the three TD's but the left side may have some life for a counterclockwise session. The front can probably last me another 2-3 TDs but I would need a new rear. I have not done any street miles so can't attest for highway longevity but the top of the tires are practically new lol. The hot pressures are 34-35 PSI front and 30-32 PSI rear. I found 34 F 30 R to work well for me. Now because of how hot the last TD was, 100°-105°, I ate up the right side of the rear tire. Overall tire has lots of grip and never lost traction for my skillset. May be due to the smooth /gradual power delivery of the GSXR as opposed to ZX-6R , R6 , 675R etc... The thing about these tires is that I did not get much feedback from the front and always assumed I had tons of grip left for my pace. Maybe a faster/late breaker/trail breaking rider might be able to sense feedback but I didn't. May also be due to how stiff my upper body is as opposed to being loosy goosy. I'm happy with these tires and would recommend to anyone moving from C to B group or just wanting to upgrade from Hypersport street tires. Note, I was never on Q3 so can't attest to Q3 to Q4 progression. Summary, if you are a group A rider you probably get 2 days max out of these tires (Rear) and may less with a 1000cc. The front appears to be good for 4-6 TD's. The tire warms up fast (3-5 corners) and are predictable. I'm now on my second set of tires for these season and will be trying the RS10's follow by the Pirelli TD so maybe I will come back and update my review of front end feel because the RS10s have a stiffer carcass and the Pirelli are softer compared to the Q4 from what I've read.

Q4"s
These tires inspire confidence. will help you get your knee down. They warm up after about one lap. If you ride at a highly abrasive track you will go through this tire fast
