    Great insert

Posted by Bill on 26th Mar 2021

Works great. It's more like a 4.5 rating as I wish it was a actual visor and not just a insert. It would be nice to not see the end of it out of the corner of my eye

    it works well enough

Gets dark enough to cut the glare from hitting your eyes. Doesn't work that well on bright cloudy days, but it still works, somewhat. Don't expect dark smoke or smoke darkness. But if you had wanted it to go that dark, you're better off buying that darkness level of visors. Whereas for this, it's for those who're tired of carrying 2 visors around for riding from day to night and don't have an internal sun visor. With all being said, I'm happy with my purchase and would buy again if I happen to buy a "premium" helmet that has no internal sun visor that justifies this purchase.

    Pinlock Protectint

Posted by Hafeez on 12th Aug 2020

The protectint pinlock is good. Not as dark as smoke or dark smoke visors but it gets dark enough to cut down the glare. It does darkens slowly that you don't realised it darkening but fast enough that it doesn't affect you.

    It gets dark enough

    Posted by M on 7th Mar 2020

I'd like to amend my previous negative review of this item. After using it daily for about a month, I can confirm that the tint does get dark enough for me to ride in sunny days. It just needed to be exposed to the sun for a little longer than I expected in order to reach its darkest tint. It still isn't as dark as black sunglasses or the dark smoke visor that came with my helmet, but I can recommend this for anyone who is tired of carrying sunglasses or two visors all the time. My negative remark about the slight tint for night time riding still remains. It's minor enough that it hardly affects my riding at night, but I still wish it wasn't there.

    Dishonest marketing image

    Posted by M on 20th Feb 2020

When this pinlock insert is installed on a clear visor, it will NOT get as dark as you see in the product image, even in direct sunlight. You will only get a very light tint that barely cuts down the harshness of the sun. This is because the clear visor itself blocks UV rays from the sun, which is what this insert reacts to. In addition, the insert has a very slight tint to it by default, which makes it darker than a regular clear insert. I can still use it at night, but it's noticeable. In short, I'm dissatisfied with this insert in both daytime and night time uses. One thing it does well is prevent fogging, but that's not the reason I bought it.
