Ol' Faithful just got an update. We've listened to your feedback, applied it, and reworked a classic from the ICON line. The durable textile Contra 2 jacket checks all the boxes. The tried-and-true Iron Weave Mesh™ panels allow intake and exhaust airflow, dramatically reducing the chance of overheating, and the jacket is further reinforced with ballistic nylon in the tumble zones. Industry-leading D3O® shoulder, elbow, and back impact protectors come standard. The cuff vents, retro-reflective hits, and anti-flap arm straps are just a few of the creature comforts in this feature-rich jacket. A SatinCore liner adds modularity, and the TPU chest badging provides the classic ICON steeze. Check, check, and check, the Contra 2 jacket has what you need.

Great summer jacket - needs better armor pockets

Posted by Henry on 31st Aug 2021

I got the all black jacket. I normally wear XL, but bought the 2XL as I knew I'd be adding a Klim airbag vest and I wanted room for a hoodie or flannel as well for fall. The jacket is great and breathes excellent in every way without the zip in liner installed. My only complaint is that Icon would have slightly sturdier armor pockets for the elbow pads at least. They do have three pockets to adjust the height of the pad, but the pocket is so elastic that I wonder if the pad would stay where it should if I needed it. The last is one small neagtive in an otherwise excellent jacket.

    Excellent jacket

I was looking for a summer jacket that was well fitted and had excellent armor. I had never considered Icon prior to speaking with SBTG, and I'm happy they recommended it. D30 armor (including a back piece) and excellent quality are hard to beat at this price point. American cut, so make sure you check the size chart before buying what you may normally buy in Alpinestars, Rev It, etc.

    Icon Contra2 Jacket

First of all, I'm currently employed at a military installation in Japan and I must admit that the shipping aspect of this jacket was outstanding. Shipped 1 Apr, arrive 8 Apr. Now the jacket, I had the original Contra and of course I will try not to compare this one and that one but, it will very difficult. First, this jacket is much lighter (weight) than the original. I ordered and XXL in both jackets and the fit is about the same with one exception, the waist for the original had a more tighter fit then this one. Pockets are all easily accessible as compared to the original. Finally, I haven't had the opportunity to see how the air flow with this jacket compared with the original but, I can tell by the looks of this one compared to the original, this jacket will give much more airflow when riding.

I love the color, materials and protection.

I really love this jacket. However, there is only one problem. The armpits are cut too high and they really ride up in there and its uncomfortable. I bought a medium as per the size chart, 39" chest I'm 168lbs 5' 9". I tried on a large and it felt too roomy and was an inch longer on the cuff than I needed. Medium fits really well except for the uncomfortable high cut in the arm pit. I feel like I should maybe get the large instead so this doesn't bother me. In the riding position you don't notice it. It's only when your arms are down. This very high cut in the armpit makes it difficult to get in and out of the jacket esp if you have anything more than a t-shirt on.
