It's an oil filter
It's an oil filter. I actually like the nut top more for an easy place to safety wire more than anything else.

K&N Oil Filter
Visual wise " typical oil filter with a screw" for easily removal, will be place on as soon as I get to it, to be determine the difference soon. A bit pricy too.
