    An amazing upgrade

Posted by Brian Frichette on 18th Feb 2020

This shock is amazing. I'm not just comparing it to the trash that the MT-09 comes with stock, I mean it stands on its own as an amazing piece of suspension technology. I have never experienced a shock that provides so much comfort and control. I know it's not a race shock like you'd get for a sport bike, but even so, it's better than what my R6 came with. It's better than what my 2018 GSXR-1000R came with. So as you can imagine, compared with stock it's just a huge upgrade. Now the front feels like trash in comparison, so I would recommend getting a K-Tech valve re-valve and springs for the front. If you have a 2017+ MT-09, do *not* purchase the RaceTech valve kit sold here. It's not meant for the newer models and if you do try to use it, you'll lose your compression adjustment. Installation was relatively simple. You'll need to be able to support the bike in the center so the swingarm can extend. If you have an aftermarket exhaust that probably means at least removing the midpipe. If you have the stock exhaust you can just jack up the cat assuming you spread the load properly. This is a direct replacement and it's really nice that it has a mounting bracket for the N2 canister. Can't say enough about this thing.
