The Michelin Power GP Tire is being marketed as a 50 / 50 track day tire. In our opinion this is more of a full track day tire than it is a street tire. Once we have the opportunity to ride on this tire we will share our thoughts. Michelin uses proprietary formulation and strategic placement of 2CT and 2CT+ "Carbon Black" compounds to maximize performance. The surface area of slick zones is increased and the size of water voids is reduced for class-leading dry grip and communication on the track. Warm-up times are short, and the Power GPs are ready for the lap timer to start. With DOT approval, the Power GPs are equally adept at dominating the street. Michelin's patented "velvet" sidewall design adds some extra GP-level style to match the GP-level performance.

  • Michelin's newest 50/50 track day tire

  • Michelin 2CT and 2CT+ Technologies optimize the placement of carbon black and silica compounds or enhanced grip during on-track use

    Great Tires

Posted by MiguelD on 29th May 2023

I've had the opportunity to run these tires back to back on a track (LVMS) againt Pirelli Supercorsa Trackday SC3s. Both tires are excellent and grip well. When I turned traction control off the Michelin's performed better. With TC off the Pirelli's gave me little to no warning they were going to break free when I was hard on the gas coming out a corner. The Michelins were more predictable and would allow me to slide the back end. The Michelin's also seemed to wear better and did not show signs of extensive head cycling. My personal feel is that you can't go wrong with either tire since both are excellent. My lap times were better on the Michelins though. STG is awesome to deal with, My tires arrived in 2 day and were nice and fresh, unlike some places I've bought from where tires show up old and dusty.

Nice Tires, Good Grip, Good road feedback.

Riding a 2016 FZ09 I put approximately 100 miles of twisty & straight country roads on these tires, break-in period was short, superb handling, & cornering, Good braking, very different than average street/stock tires. Road coarseness & texture can be felt thru handlebar & chassis, due to what I felt was tire feedback which gave me a clue of the surface I was riding. I think these will be great at the track, & definitely technical on winding/twisty roads.

    Pretty Amazing Tire

Posted by Jeremy on 7th Jun 2021

Just rode this tire at the track two days ago (chuckwalla). They heat up fast, don't need warmers (although a few times, I used them anyways), and they have grip for days. They also seem to last decently well, considering. I'd be willing to bet these have decent longevity. Their profile makes for easy turn in, and great confidence when cornering. These are great tires for the track, might be a tad overkill for the street. 10/10 would recommend. Also, STG shipped em quick, and had them to me in time to get them installed before my track weekend. Great stuff all around.
