1. Pretty Good Tool - A must have!
This is the first time I attempt to break/press and rivet a chain (back in the day I did it a couple times with a clip style but I wouldn't do that ever again).
Anyway, the tool feels very well made and gets the job done (DID 525 ZVM-X chain). I bought and extra master link just in case I messed up but I didn't need it!
Since I have an angle grinder I didn't want to push my luck and made it easier on the tool by grinding down the master links before cutting the old chain (I read a few people complaining about the pin breaking)
I made sure I applied some Bel-Ray multi purpose grease to the threads before and after use.
The only thing I don't like too much about the tool is the handle (not long enough) but that could easily be fixed by using some metal pipe that's wide enough to use it as extra leverage (I used the spark plug deep socket that came with my bike).
Also, make sure you use some muscle to make this thing work... you need to apply certain strength but at the end of the day I was happy to being able to replace the chain myself.
My advice is, take your time and use a digital caliper to make sure the plates are pressed to specs (measure the other plates on the chain and compare) and also measure the rivets to make sure they are mushroomed to specs (if you don't know the specs, compare them to the pins on the other links and rivet them to the same measurement not exceeding 5% diameter)... it is better to rivet it a little at a time and measure the progress instead of rushing it and having to remove the master link and use a new one because you messed it up.
In a few words, great tool ... BUY IT!
