    Great tool

forget about the motion pro C-Clamp style that is in the same price range this one is more heavy duty and works great ! One this left out of the video was when pressing on the side plate measure the inner plates on the chain you are installing with a electronic caliper and then press the plate to those specs and same with the rivet head ! I always used a dremmel and knocked off the rivet head B4 pressing out the old chain and that is NOT needed with this tool ! Works great get this one and you will not need another !

Pretty Good Tool - A must have!

Posted by German R on 22nd Nov 2017

This is the first time I attempt to break/press and rivet a chain (back in the day I did it a couple times with a clip style but I wouldn't do that ever again). Anyway, the tool feels very well made and gets the job done (DID 525 ZVM-X chain). I bought and extra master link just in case I messed up but I didn't need it! Since I have an angle grinder I didn't want to push my luck and made it easier on the tool by grinding down the master links before cutting the old chain (I read a few people complaining about the pin breaking) I made sure I applied some Bel-Ray multi purpose grease to the threads before and after use. The only thing I don't like too much about the tool is the handle (not long enough) but that could easily be fixed by using some metal pipe that's wide enough to use it as extra leverage (I used the spark plug deep socket that came with my bike). Also, make sure you use some muscle to make this thing work... you need to apply certain strength but at the end of the day I was happy to being able to replace the chain myself. My advice is, take your time and use a digital caliper to make sure the plates are pressed to specs (measure the other plates on the chain and compare) and also measure the rivets to make sure they are mushroomed to specs (if you don't know the specs, compare them to the pins on the other links and rivet them to the same measurement not exceeding 5% diameter)... it is better to rivet it a little at a time and measure the progress instead of rushing it and having to remove the master link and use a new one because you messed it up. In a few words, great tool ... BUY IT!

    Must have tool

Used this tool only once and opted to grind the old riveted heads off since I have the tool and was able to push the pin right out and with the new chain it riveted the heads easily great product

    AMAZING!

I have bought a few different types of chain tools, this one is by far the easiest and best! Easy to use strong quality craftsmanship. I have used it 6 time on my person bikes and never had an issue. It can be a bit unnerving changing your own chain especially getting on the bike for the first time after wondering if the chain is going to snap but as long as you follow the instructions to the letter you can ride with confidence!

    Quick and Easy

Posted by Pablo Ramos on 26th Jun 2017

Has to be the easiest tool I've ever used. Replaced my chain in 20 min from beginning to end. For those not familiar on how to use it, the instructions provided are easy to understand. Definitely the tool everyone who owns a bike (and does their own work) should have in their garage.

    First Timer - Great Experience

Posted by Unknown on 14th Sep 2016

STG's Motion Pro PBR Chain Tool Video alongside the Chain & Sprocket Install instructions video on YT made my first chain install a breeze. I highly recommend this product to any rider out there. I spent hundreds of dollars over the course of my riding career to have a shop put on my chains because I never felt comfortable enough to do it myself and didn't want to fiddle with a variety of special tools needed for it. Follow Brian Van's instruction and you'll have professional results. This little thing is probably my favorite thing in my tool box now. Thank you STG and team for everything you guys do for the riders.

    No more master link

I used to use a master link on my r6. But since I've been hitting the track the rivet link is safer! This tool works perfect!

    Does it all

I couldn't believe this tool actually did everything it claimed to. It made my first chain job relatively easy. My only gripe is the handle doesn't have enough leverage. My suggestion: 1/2" to 1/2" ratchet extension (3-4" in length) with a 13 or 14mm (can't remember) deep socket on one end. It gives you the extra leverage you need.

Seems to be a tough tool

Posted by Larry on 1st Apr 2016

Pressing a DID chain was not as easy as the Motoin Pro video makes it look. Even after greasing the threads on my new PBR chain tool it took all my strength to rivet the link. And I thought the tool was going to break like the other brand I bought previously. But after several tries it flared the pin enough.
