2011 Yamaha YZF-R1 Motorcycle Parts
If you’ve heard that riding the Yamaha YZF-R1 on the track is like being able to corner an R6 but with all the extra horsepower, you heard right. As one of the most radical designs with the almost eyeball looking headlights, it looks great going down the road or at the track. With race performance in a stock motorcycle, champions have been born with the YZF-R1 and used in the further development of this machine. Standard technology such as the seven-level Traction Control system, Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle for instant performance and the crossplane crankshaft. All of this and more help separate the handling and performance from its competitors on the field.
One of Van’s favorite Project Bikes, he was skeptical at first as he had mostly ridden 600cc machines and enjoyed the cornering ability but quickly fell in love with the power the R1 had to offer. He built the STG 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 throughout the 2013 riding season and realized after his first weekend at Grattan Raceway that the power of a big bike is where it’s at! During this install, he gave you the confidence to drill a set of Armour Bodies race bodywork and install a full Graves Link System Exhaust. In addition to some of the harder jobs, he focused on some of the smaller, necessary jobs to hit the track like a Driven 520 Chain and Sprocket Kit and switching out the stock battery for a lightweight Ballistic Lithium battery. The R1 was fully set up when it was delivered to James, who is still out there loving the bike in Texas!
