Rev-It Poseidon 3 Suit - if you can only own just one suit, this is the one

Posted by Robert N on 10th Jan 2025

As someone who put well over 75,000 miles on a Poseidon V1, I can say that is has absolutely served me well over the past 8 years. From driving winds and howling rain and sleet on the Trans Labrador Highway and Newfoundland to the tip of Baja California (Cabo San Lucas) and to Key West, the V1 served me well. Dry in the wet, Flows air with the vents open in the heat of the California Deserts, this suit does it all. What makes Rev-It special is that they never stopped innovating and improving the suit. Small changes over the V1 such as a different sleeve cuff (less folded material), changing the location of the chest vents, adding a chest pocket on the left (and a corresponding hidden right side pocket) are great examples of the subtle changes that make for an improved suit. The attention to detail is superb, such as adding small fabric darts on the connector zipper to make it easier to zip the suit together shows how RevIt really put thought into how this suit is designed. Here is the list of changes from V1 to V3 that I've noticed: 1. Removable Neck Gaitor. 2. bicep vents instead of forearm vents. 3. larger, more comfortable, less bulky wrist closures 4. left forearm pocket for keys 5. more reflectives 6. snap in liner instead of zip in (lighter, easier, less bulky than zippers) 7. twin vertical back vents instead of a single horizontal slash vent 8. chest vents are lifted higher on the body. 9. redesigned pockets (no velcro) are easier to access. 10. redesigned kangaroo pouch on back (easier to use) 11. a snap on the neck closure instead of the "hook" (*the hook never worked for me so this is big to me) 12. removal of the "super fabric" on the arms and shoulders...which pealed off after 20 or so washings on my V1... 13. Left side chest pocket and hidden right side pocket 14. additional chest armor pockets 15. removal of hand warmer pockets...rarely if ever used so this makes the jacket sleeker and less bulky I'd say the V3 is 10-15% lighter than the V1. I could go on and wax poetically about this suit but in the end I can sum it up this way: This is The One. The One Suit that does it all. My V1 now sits in SoCal with a friend in semi-retirement so I always have a riding suit handy when I go out to visit...and the V3 hangs in my garage in TN.
