Good helmet but the RF-1200 much better
Replacement for RF-1200 damaged in a crash. Same Shoei quaility but not happy with the redesign. Pros: - Quality build - Light weight - Flows more air than the RF-1200. Cons: - Is quieter at lower speeds, but the new brow vent starts to make noise at about 50 mph. - In the same size much harder to get on and off. (Once on fits about the same.) - Hate the center lock for the shield. Button is hard to locate with gloves wo/ hitting/messing up chin vent position. The tab to lift the visor is far too small. - I find it much harder to remove the shield. Easy to remove on my RF-1200s. Have to wrestle with one side of this one. - The chin curtain covers the emergency release pull tabs so responders may not see them in an accident. - The orange in the pic is not the orange you get. It's road cone orange vs KTM orange. Matches my Alpine Stars (with "red" accents that are really also road cone orange) jacket so not a huge deal. - Can't find a dark smoke visor or transitions shield for it anywhere. - Like all premium helmets these days, over $100 more expensive than two years ago for no additional value and an overall a weaker design than the RF-1200. Wish they'd left the RF-1200 alone. So why still 4 stars? Tried premium helmets from Aria, Bell, Scorpion and Shark at this price point and the RF-1400 is still the best by far in terms of weight, fit, quiet, air flow, and overall quality. The Aria Regent is I think it's closest competitor. Nice helmet but $30 more expensive for graphics and a pinlock insert, chin curtain, and breath guard are all extra.

Better than the 1200 BUT some cons
Definitely quieter and I notice that it has less lift and drag than the 1200. Seemingly a snugger fit, but still fits in the same size range as the 1200. I wore a large and still do. The snug secure fit just feels safer somehow. I'm still getting used to the middle face shield lock. I think I would still prefer it on the side like the 1200. It's only been a week so I have plenty of time to adjust to the center lock. But the other issue I see with the center lock is that the chin vent surrounds the button that unlocks the face shield. So when you're fumbling around in your gloves trying to unlock/push/pop-up the face shield, you'll probably close the chin vent at the same time without knowing it (if you had it open). It's already 95 degrees where I am so I want all vents open. So I have to remember to pull the vent back down (open) after I mess with the face shield. Also, changing out face shields is more difficult on this model. If I hit the gym after work and it's dark when I leave, I would just switch out to the clear face shield for the ride home in the 1200 - easy switch even in a dark parking lot. The 1400 requires you to pull the shield at awkward angles - kind of hard forward then hard out - while disengaging the latch. Definitely thought I was going to break it on the first try. Not something you can do quickly in the dark. Maybe I'll get used to that too. But overall it was still worth the upgrade. The way the face shield clicks into its different positions has a more quality feel and sound than the 1200. The snug fit is great and the additional cooling air flow and better aerodynamics make it a good buy for me. And the black prologue design with a mirrored face shield is just sick!

Really great helmet, just a bit too small
It is a great helmet, I just wish it fit my oversize melon. I measure 63cm and most intermediate ovals will work just fine, this one in 2XL was just too tight against my cheeks and crown of my head. It is a bummer because I loved it. If you can, I would suggest going up one size, it may work for you. Thanks to STG for such great service.
