This three piece kit we have here from Techspec includes side grip panels for both right and left sides of the tank. And then we have a little center panel that goes right down the middle of the tank. Why do you put this on your bike? This is meant to help you get more grip to interact between your riding pants, or if you're on the racetrack a race suit, and your legs. It allows you to use your legs more so you can take pressure off your hands, and that's really key. One of the most important aspects of riding is hand pressure. The tighter you are on the bars, the worse the motorcycle handles. You really have to get as much weight as possible off the hand controls in order to get your bike dialed and improve your riding. These tank grips go a long way towards doing that.

NOTE: The Snake Skin & X-Line kits both include a center tank protector.

Snake Skin Tank Grip:

TechSpec's Snake Skin "RELEASABLE" Synthetic Rubber measures @ .125" thick. You will feel the difference within the first 50ft of your ride, improving the relationship between you and your machine! Squeeze it and feel what a solid seat position is like. Will also increase in comfort, assist's in reduction of vibration, and improving distribution of weight.

X-Line 2 Tank Grip:

TechSpec's X-Line 2 is a thin (.045"), medium durometer rubber skin with a raised dot pattern. The material is thin, lightweight, and has a high coefficient of friction comparable to that of TechSpec's original XLine material, yet less expensive and more durable!

    TS Tank Grip Thoughts

Improved looks, exceptionally grippy, & simple install. Although, anything tape on causes anxiety when lining it up.

STG crushed the install video on explaining the why behind the tank grips as well as the how-to. STG crushed order processing and shipping. Not kidding, pretty sure from the time I submitted my order, till it arrived was five days. Install was a breeze. Even with my OCD of constantly wiping the bike down and staring at it 15 times before I placed them on. BONUS! Its actually a five piece kit, not three. Will be placing an order for the R3 today! Thank you STG.

Great grip and feel but questionable longevity.

I went with the new X-line version, and while it really grips my inner legs fantastically It started to rip after only 3 track days. After about 10 trackdays this year the outside layer is starting to peel from the corners. A little glue should do the trick but if I had to order again I would just go for the Snake Skin version.

I was a little worried this wouldn't hold. Followed the installation instructions to the letter. It's been holding just find. Make sure to let it "cure" for 24 hours before you ride. I warmed it thoroughly with a heat gun before I applied the pieces. Make sure your tank is at least room temp. A cold tank will chill the tank grip and it probably won't stick correctly. Don't over cook the pads, but warm them until they feel warm on the backside to the touch. This way you don't melt the glue off the pad, but it's gooey. Surface prepped with Windex and then rubbing alcohol. I know this sounds over the top, but they're holding really well. I tried some on my R6 a few years back, just kind of wiped down the surface and slapped them on. Had nothing but problems. This time it's all good. You do the math....

Great tank grips! Very easy to install, keep you locked down on the bike which takes a lot of pressure off the wrists, would buy again.

    Techspec snakeskin tank grips

Installed the Techspec tank grips on my Z400. Techspec has a good install video for this product, was a bit difficult to get my garage to the recommended temperature being in Canada and it's winter. Install worked well with a heat gun and space heater to get it done right.

This was my first purchase with STG (will not be my last), these grips installed easily and STG has a great video on how to install. Shipping was extremely fast. Will be shopping with STG in the near future.
