STG Motorcycle Stand Buyers Guide

The Motorcycle Stand in this listing is a good entry to mid-level stand in our opinion. If we did not feel it was a quality product, you wouldn't find it on the site. When you visit our site it doesn't take long to discover we do things a little different here at STG. We want you to be happy with all the stuff you purchase from us, and we put a lot of effort into our product reviews to help you choose the best item for your needs. Motorcycle stands are one of those items where there is a significant difference between mid-level and high-end. If you have high-end expectations then we suggest purchasing one of the models we promote in our Motorcycle Stand Buyers Guide.

    Vortex Rear Stand, not Durable

Posted by Chris Davis on 24th Jul 2023

These stands use a bolt that acts like a set screw to position the spool adapters. A nut is welded to the frame to provide threads for that bolt. Unfortunately, the bolt's weld broke the first time I set it up. STG was helpful getting Vortex to replace the part. Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me again seven months later. The spool adapters can either be loose or the nut welds are broken. There is not in between.

Good Value - order swingarm adapter with it.

Posted by Scott DeHotman on 19th Oct 2021

This stand is a good value and feels pretty solid. Assembly is easy. For a complete solution for use on most any double-sided swingarm motorcycle, I recommend ordering the pad adapter set #ST981 for $15, well worth it.

    Vortex Rear Stand

Posted by Jay on 28th Jul 2021

This was simple to put together and use thanks to the STG Youtube video. I got this for my 2020 Suzuki Vstrom 1050XT and this works perfectly since I do not like having to use the center stand in the garage. It is heavy duty and handles by bike simply. I highly recommend this.

    Robustness

Posted by Riley Quigley on 28th Apr 2021

Vortex typically makes great products. However, the structural robustness is not as great as expected. One of the support brackets near the wheel has begun to bend a little. It’s hard to knock vortex and the price of this stand, but there is of course some room for improvement.

    Solid Stand

Solid unit, maybe lifts the bike taller than a pit bull, but all good by me

    M/C stand

Posted by David on 10th Jun 2020

While it is not as quality as stands that are 2~3x the price ( that is always the case) it is plenty good enough for occasional home use. I would have to use it in a pit/race day setting to see how it would hold up... but for home use a few times a year, it certainly seems to fit the job just fine. It is easy to get the 503# m/c on and off. I used blue loc-tite on the bolts that hold the sliding lift fingers. I do not need to change the width. So that should be good. I can see where the higher priced units would work better and would be made better, but since I have not used one of those, that is all I can say.

Vortex Rear Stand (Spooled) for Suzuki Hayabusa

Posted by Lorenzo on 18th May 2020

After purchasing Cyclegear's Trackside rear stand and the subsequent fall of my bike, I watched Brian's video on stands and decided to try out the Vortex stand. This is a solid stand but I was quickly reminded of just how heavy the Hayabusa is. I wasn't able to lift the bike alone with the Vortex stand until a removed my rear seat cowl and added the grab bar. Until that point, I thought i'd made a poor purchase. Nevertheless, this is a solid stand but I wouldn't recommend it for a heavy bike because it doesn't provide as much lifting leverage.

    Easy Setup

Posted by Patrick on 15th Jan 2020

The box arrived fast and it contained three parts. It was easy to put together and supports my FZ-09 easily.
