How to install Woodcraft Frame Sliders on the 15-17 Yamaha YZF-R1 from SportbikeTrackGear.com
Watch as Brian shows you how to install a set of frame sliders...
The Woodcraft Frame Slider for the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 offer an all new puck design to deal with the big Yamaha. The 2015 and up R1 has the ecu installed in the bodywork outside of the frame on the left side and on the right side there is a frame spare which would also be vulnerable in a crash situation. These are the thing that led Woodcraft to design a slider puck that would best suit this motorcycle. The new puck offers a mushroom profile designed to promote sliding while working to prevent sending the bike tumbling. The base is machined aluminum and the puck bolts to the base as with previous model sliders.
Installation Note: This kit does not require cutting the stock bodywork.
Frame Slider Puck Notes: The 50-1599 Domed Black Plastic Pucks are included with this kit.

Must have
In my opinion best looking slider for the Yamaha R1. Doesn’t look out of place and looks like it will do a great job Incase of a crash or too over. Easy to install took 5 minutes. Clean

Looks factory
Purchased for 2016 r1s and they look like they came from the factory, can't get any better.

No Brainer
Watch the video. Written instructions are a bit lacking. Torque spec for the bolts is 50 ft lbs per the service manual for the engine mount bolts.

LOVE WOODCRAFT
I have been adding more and more Woodcraft products to my bikes and this one was a no brainer. NO CUTTING - The low profile with that new slider design and easy installation was a great addition to my new R1. While the install is easy for something like this it's great to see STG take the time to do a video showing the particulars and providing a product review as well.

Great product - half installed!
Excellent product and innovative slider design. I installed the right side frame slider in about five minutes. However…the left side engine mount bolt was slightly more difficult to remove. As the bolt cleared the engine mount the engine shifted aft about 2mm. The resulting misalignment made it impossible to reinstall either the stock bolt or the Woodcraft frame slider bolt. My R1 has less than 400 miles on it and, since I got it new from the dealer last month, it has not been in an an accident. Hopefully, the Yamaha dealer will resolve this misalignment issue under warranty. Regardless of my annoying experience, the Woodcraft product is excellent and I hope to get the left frame slider installed soon.
